Blue Wave Semiconductors is a diversified technology and manufacturing company, providing leading edge semiconductor solutions to its customers worldwide. Blue Wave provides the scientific and industrial vacuum community with high quality products and fast service. The Company supports and takes care of any custom solution inquiries of our customers.

Blue Wave Semiconductors was founded in 2000 by Dr R.D. Vispute, a research scientist at the University of Maryland, College Park. The company started out as a developer of reliable research grade wafer heating products, but has expanded to include fully customizable deposition systems and thin-film coatings. Blue Wave has been steadily growing since it was founded and is well equipped with sales, design and manufacturing engineers who are dedicated to providing quality products and services to our customers.

Initial research activities were facilitated by the Maryland Industrial Partnerships program (MIPS), and Small Business Innovation Research programs (SBIR). Blue Wave currently holds 3 SBIR Phase I awards, 2 Phase II awards, and 3 MIPS awards. Some research equipment is licensed from the University of Maryland at College Park.

The company has been operating from the UMBC Technology Center in Baltimore since June 2004.
